Living with Uncertainty- Planning for the Future! SickKids 10th Annual Paediatric Patient Safety Symposium/Risky Business Toronto 2014
This is a guest post from Rita Damignani, Quality Analyst/Patient Safety Coordinator, Quality Management, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario
As leaders in paediatric healthcare, our goal is to deliver the safest quality care possible.
This year, SickKids will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the SickKids Annual Paediatric Patient Safety Symposium in collaboration with Risky Business 2014, an international, non-profit collaborative venture whose aim is to share new ideas on managing risk, patient safety, leadership, teamwork and improvement science from some of the highest achievers in other high-risk businesses, industries, sport, exploration, media, military and the arts.
This new 2-day format for our symposium will be held in our wonderful new Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning. The theme of this year’s combined event will revolve around the uncertainty of health care at a time when we are tasked with planning for the future of paediatric health care. There will be the added focus on translating data to information to assist with decision-making as well as learning from others about resilience and recovery in health care. We will explore innovative ways to enhance teamwork and communication as we strive to transition from a “team of experts to an expert team.”
In addition to plenary and panel sessions, we will continue to include the popular breakout sessions and poster award session as in previous symposium years.
This symposium will be of interest and relevance to a wide audience including: frontline healthcare providers, healthcare leaders and quality, safety and infection prevention specialists, risk managers, researchers, educators and families.
For those of you who are not able to join us in person, there is the opportunity to register and participate via webcast! (See details on the course website).
