Showcasing the Excellent Work from Across the CAPHC Membership

In the interest of sharing information and showcasing the great work of our member organizations, we will be starting a series of posts on our blog to highlight some of the resources and knowledge translation activities of our members.  We will learn about AboutKidsHealth.ca, which is a collaboration of a number of children’s hospitals to provide child and youth health information to a broad stakeholder group, including parents, and we will feature the CHEO Research Institutes’ Spotlight on Research video series which will showcase a sampling of research projects from one of Canada’s leading child health research institutes.

AboutKidsHealth.ca - A one stop shop for your evidence based information needs

The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario has created a website for parents and professionals alike to find evidence based answers to their questions. AboutKidsHealth.ca is a source for unbiased and evidence-based children’s health information and is supported through government grants and partnerships.

AboutKidsHealth.ca makes this information even further accessible by having the full website available in English, French, and Chinese (simplified character set).

This site currently contains over 3.000 pages of content available in English. The information is shared to help families better understand complex health topics through high-quality medical illustrations, interactive resources, and videos.

Over the next few months, CAPHC Conversations will be featuring articles and resources from the AboutKidsHealth website.  For more information on AboutKidsHealth, check out their website, or contact Sean Schurr at sean.schurr@sickkids.ca.

CHEO RI Spotlight on Research

The CHEO Research Institute is the research arm of CHEO that works to create new knowledge and evidence to help provide the world-class care that CHEO is known for.

Research at CHEO covers a full spectrum of pediatric topics, but is focused on those problems that significantly affect the health of our children, including cancer, diabetes, obesity, mental health, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal health, and genetic conditions, to name a few.

The CHEO Research Institute’s Spotlight on Research video series showcases some of their leading researchers in these priority areas.  Over the coming months we will be sharing some of these videos through the CAPHC Conversations Blog.

For more information on the CHEO Research Institute or the Spotlight on Research series, contact Adrienne Vienneau, Director, Communications and Public Relations at avienneau@cheo.on.ca.
