AboutKidsHealth: Upper endoscopy information now available

Over the next few months, CAPHC Conversations will be featuring articles and resources from the AboutKidsHealth website.  For more information on AboutKidsHealth, check out their website, or contact Sean Schurr at sean.schurr@sickkids.ca.

_______________

An upper endoscopy is a procedure to study the upper part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. If you have a patient who requires an upper endoscopy, information is now available on AboutKidsHealth to help them prepare for the procedure.

Parents can find out:

  • why their child might need an upper endoscopy
  • what happens during the procedure
  • which risks can occur
  • how they should prepare their child for the procedure at SickKids
  • what happens afterwards.

Created with the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, the article offers families helpful illustrations and information in plain language and is available in French as well as English. For more information, please visit AboutKidsHealth.ca
