Do you have a patient with asthma? AboutKidsHealth can help!

Over the next few months, CAPHC Conversations will be featuring articles and resources from the AboutKidsHealth website.  For more information on AboutKidsHealth, check out their website, or contact Sean Schurr at sean.schurr@sickkids.ca.

_______________

May is Asthma Awareness Month. Asthma can be particularly difficult for kids in the spring due to seasonal allergens such as pollen and mould, which can make asthma symptoms worse.

AboutKidsHealth has an Asthma Resource Centre with information to help patients and their parents understand and manage the condition. Developed with SickKids’ clinicians, the resource centre is designed to take patients and caregivers from diagnosis and medications to living long-term with asthma. It also includes tips for avoiding potential asthma triggers and developing an asthma action plan.

Kids can also learn about asthma for themselves! The Just for Kids section of AboutKidsHealth.ca has an interactive game that explains exactly what it means to have asthma, triggers to watch out for and what to do if they have an asthma attack.

Asthma is just one of the many topics covered on AboutKidsHealth, SickKids’ patient education website. For more information on asthma and other health topics, visit AboutKidsHealth.ca.
