New Down syndrome and diabetes content on AboutKidsHealth

The first week of November is Canadian Down Syndrome Week (CDSW), which celebrates people with Down syndrome and recognizes the positive impact they have in our communities. To coincide with this annual awareness week, AboutKidsHealth has updated its resources on
Down syndrome. Visit AKH to learn more about:
- What causes Down syndrome and how it affects the body
- Medical conditions that can affect children with Down syndrome
These articles provide accurate, up-to- date information to help educate parents and children, and dispel stereotypes and common misconceptions about people with Down syndrome.
November is also Diabetes Awareness Month, which aims to advocate for those living with diabetes and educate the public about risk, treatment and care. To mark Diabetes Awareness Month and World Diabetes Day on November 14, be sure to take a look at AKH’s updated
Diabetes Resource Centre — with over ten articles added to a new “Living with diabetes” section. Some new articles include:
